Institutional Policies and Operational Protocols of ISSA
The International Special Sports Association (ISSA) operates in accordance with a clear framework of policies and protocols designed to ensure transparency, accountability, institutional integrity, and good governance across all levels of its activities.
These policies and protocols establish the principles, standards, and procedures that guide ISSA’s decision-making processes, institutional conduct, and operational practices. They apply to all governing bodies, commissions, member organisations, and affiliated entities operating within the ISSA framework.
Governance Principles
ISSA’s policies are grounded in recognised international governance standards, including the principles of the Olympic Movement, institutional independence, democratic participation, equality, non-discrimination, and respect for the autonomy of sport.

Each policy or protocol is adopted, amended, or repealed in accordance with the ISSA Statutes and under the authority of the appropriate governing body.
Application and Compliance
All member organisations, officials, and affiliated entities are expected to act in compliance with ISSA’s adopted policies and protocols. These instruments serve as a common reference to ensure consistency, fairness, and predictability in ISSA’s institutional operations.
Non-compliance with applicable policies may result in review or action in accordance with established procedures and the ISSA Statutes.
