International Checkers Committee

(ISSA Checkers Committee)

Checkers (also known as Draughts) is recognised as a strategic mind sport with a long-established international presence and a structured competitive tradition. Within the institutional framework of the International Special Sports Association (ISSA), Checkers is recognised as an official sporting discipline and is organised and supported through the ISSA Checkers Committee.

The ISSA Checkers Committee is established to promote the structured development of the sport at an international level, to strengthen cooperation among national and regional organisations, and to support the sustainable growth of Checkers in accordance with recognised principles of good governance and institutional transparency.

The Committee facilitates technical dialogue, educational initiatives, and the exchange of expertise related to the sport of Checkers. Its activities may include the development of guidelines, support for competitive and developmental programmes, and collaboration with relevant stakeholders, while fully respecting the technical and administrative autonomy of affiliated organisations.

Operating in alignment with the ISSA Statutes, the ISSA Checkers Committee contributes to the international visibility, institutional coherence, and long-term development of Checkers as a recognised mind sport within the global sports community.
