International Chess Committee
(ISSA Chess Committee)
Chess is recognised as one of the world’s most established and highly structured mind sports, with a distinguished historical legacy, an organised competitive system, and a strong international presence. Within the institutional framework of the International Special Sports Association (ISSA), Chess is recognised as an official mind sport and is organised and supported through the ISSA Chess Committee.
The ISSA Chess Committee is established to promote the structured development of the sport at an international level, to strengthen cooperation among national and regional organisations, and to support the sustainable growth of Chess in accordance with recognised principles of good governance and institutional transparency.
The Committee’s responsibilities include facilitating technical dialogue, the exchange of expertise, and the coordination of educational and competitive initiatives related to Chess. All activities are conducted with full respect for the technical and administrative autonomy of affiliated organisations and in accordance with their internal regulations.
Operating in full alignment with the ISSA Statutes, the ISSA Chess Committee contributes to the international visibility, institutional coherence, and long-term development of Chess as a recognised discipline within the global mind sports community.
